Wild Things Parade

December 2008

Wild Things Project Comes Alive

The Wild Things in the Woods project culminated in a magical evening of music, lights, storytelling and performance in Wild Things leaflet3December 2008. The Ecology Centre site came alive as tree puppets danced out the woods, kelpies emerged from the sensory garden and strange creatures sung from the edge of the loch. The participants entertained the audience with stories of demons and dragons and poetry inspired by the natural surroundings. Fairy lights twinkled in the trees as a piper began to play and sky lanterns shot up in the air.

The evening was a huge successWild_things_troll and a credit to those involved. I would like to say a big thank you to all the young people involved who responded to every challenge with humour, creativity, energy and enthusiasm. The final event could never have worked without all the support from The Ecology Centre’s committed volunteers, so thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to Wild Things in the Woods! Some of the comments received from the participants, their parents and group leaders as well as pictures of the children are shown below. To find out more about the Wild Things in the Wood project, please click on this link.

"My children have thoroughly enjoyed this experience with the theatre group and especially being outdoors and being free to perform something that they created themselves" A proud parent

"My child has challenged herself so much over the past months and watching the result in a wood was such a proud moment for her parents"

“The project was so varied and hands on, from getting covered in mud, holding toads, tasting organic vegetables, making tree puppets, pond dipping, blindfolded in the sensory garden, there was never a dull moment and none of the usual “I’m bored”. Claire Reid, Project Coordinator, made this project a very magical and worthwhile experience for the young carers involved”
Rose David, Senior Support Worker, Fife Young Carers.
