The Ecology Centre is a small, community based charity and social enterprise set on the banks of Kinghorn Loch in Fife. After a challenging 12 months, we are getting back to good health and have some really exciting and ambitious plans to further develop the Centre. We are seeking a General Manager to work with an active and engaged group of trustees to help define and deliver the strategic plan going forward.
At the heart of our work is a passion and belief in the benefits that the natural world can provide to a wide range of people. From early years school children to retired volunteers, we are responsive to a number of identified needs providing opportunities for learning as well as healing through engagement with nature and the environment. Education is central to what we do but we are also keen to build stronger connections with our local community and to offer a number of activities and events through our growing social enterprise.
As General Manager, you will lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the charity. You will be responsible for the charity’s finances, with particular focus on raising funds, as well as the development of the commercial aspects of the social enterprise with respect to all activities, events and services. You will manage a small team of dedicated and committed individuals, ensuring they deliver on their outcomes as well as implementing relevant policies and procedures that ensure the safety of staff and quality of work. You will also, report to and work with the trustees in areas of governance, financial stewardship and developing wider external relationships to progress the Centres standing in the community and beyond.
The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of the third sector including experience and knowledge of fund raising and the establishment of a social enterprise. They will bring strong people skills with a natural ability to engage and lead as well as develop the team at the Centre.
Salary: Competitive with generous holiday entitlement
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week. Remote and flexible working negotiable
