We are looking to recruit a new volunteer Treasurer to come on board in 2021!

The Treasurer is a key strategic member of the Board in a fast changing world.  Here's a little bit more information about the role:-

What will you be doing?
The Ecology Centre values the benefits that people can gain from involvement in our activities; not only in terms of learning about ecology and the environment but by gaining increased confidence and self-esteem through their experiences. The Ecology Centre is an inclusive, community-led charity inspiring positive change through directly connecting people (whether they are 5 or 95) and the natural environment for the benefit of both!

The Centre's staff and volunteers provide an array of activities and land management throughout the year.

It has its own employed Finance Officer looking after the bookkeeping (as well as the day-to-day money & bills), an outsourced payroll team, a volunteer accountant who looks after the Accounts and soon to be Management Accounts process and finally an independent Accountant who reviews and submits the Year End Accounts.

Strengthening the Finance Team

The current Treasurer needs to step back to concentrate on specific other things but will be on hand to give a handover right through to the end of June 2021 if needed; but in any case is remaining a Board Trustee after that.

The Finance Team will then consist of:

·       New Treasurer (Trustee & Director)

·       Finance Officer (employed)

·       Accountant (volunteer)

Along with the current Treasurer remaining as a Trustee.

The Treasurer's role is one of an FD (since the day to day operations are covered by the Finance Officer and the volunteer accountant) and covers 2 entities: the charity itself (a Ltd company) and its 100% enterprise subsidiary (also a Ltd company).

The Board is currently starting work on a brand new Strategy to cover the coming 1 year and 5 years; and the Treasurer will be a key part of this of course.

The Treasurer is also responsible for the Risk Register (which is in place but should be continually revisited) and ensuring the financial processes and controls are in place.

Working remotely has become the norm over the last few months, and all Board meetings are held by Zoom.

This is a truly exciting opportunity for a Treasurer to come in and make a difference as The Ecology Centre moves into a new phase of its life!

What are we looking for?
Ideally a person with an accounting background.  Additionally, exposure to the charity sector and/or strategic planning would also be ideal.

What difference will you make?
This is a key role at a key time for the Charity and you can make a big difference!

What's in it for the volunteer?
Great Board, all with a common purpose. The charity provides amazing work to people who need it most.

If you have some spare time and would like to get involved, then we would love to hear from you!  Interested?  Email and we can put you in touch with the existing Treasurer for an informal chat or select the link below to complete the application form for the role and email it to us at the address above.
