Exciting news from Kinghorn Loch, work has started on the first phase of developing our new home!
Three shipping containers have arrived at the lochside. These are being stored on the car park ready to be lifted into position once foundations are built, work that will start shortly. The containers have travelled the world for the Hanjin shipping company for the past 15 years. They will be “up-cycled” to provide workshop and storage space for the new Centre with our volunteers involved in the conversion work. The will also provide an opportunity to experiment with green roofs and vertical gardening to provide attractive, wildlife friendly screening.
Work has also started on our “loo with a view”. Funding was secured from Grow Wild, an initiative run by Kew Gardens, to plant up a wild flower meadow. Ronnie and his band of young volunteers have lifted turf and planted the wildflower seeds.
Our new composting toilet (arriving next month) will be positioned to make the most of the view over the meadow and loch.
Lots happening, watch this space!
