Our ‘Nature, Nurture’ programme funded by The People’s Postcode Trust comes to an end this week having delivered 40 free therapeutic sessions and helped over 190 young people, with still one more group to go!
Some of the most deserving children’s groups in Fife have been able to benefit from the free nature therapy sessions spending time at The Centre and taking part in creative workshops, team building activities with lots of fun environmental exploration.
Fife Young Carers were one of the many groups who took part in the programme. Rose Davis, Senior Support worker commented “respite is so important for young carers, a bit of time out from their daily lives to run around with no stress or worries and that is what the sessions delivered”. Pupils from Pathhead Primary School also enjoyed a 7 week programme of therapeutic sessions, Sophie aged 9 commented: ‘it helped me become more confident,’ Teacher, Louise Wood – from Kirkcaldy North Primary School, who also benefited said the project provided: ‘opportunities for transition to take place in a non-threatening environment.’
The Ecology Centre hopes to run similar programmes in the future. Claire Reid, Education Manager, commented: ‘It has been wonderful to have this funding from the Players of People’s Postcode Lottery, we’ve always known how much young people can benefit from these programmes, to be able to offer them free of charge has allowed us to help so many more young people in Fife.’
