After a period of uncertainty over the future of The Ecology Centre at Kinghorn Loch, we are delighted to report that things are back on course for a new home on the east side of the Loch.
Although updates have been few in the past year and it might have appeared that plans for our new centre had ground to a halt, we have in fact been working flat out to secure the future of our organisation.
The collapse of Kingdom Developments was a major setback for us as it put a large question mark over the land and our future at Kinghorn Loch. We had to seriously consider other options for our organisation including a partnership with Fife Council at Lochore Meadows. However, with tremendous support from local councillors, MSP’s, Kinghorn Community Land Association (KCLA), our committee, volunteers and staff we are now rapidly moving forward with our plans and hope to have our new home built in 2014.
We are relieved that we can continue to provide Kinghorn and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to be part of a project that delivers volunteering and job opportunities for adults of all ages and abilities and allows everyone to experience nature first hand.
