On Monday 26th September we are delighted to be hosting a visit by George Chimpiko who set up KODO in Malawi. KODO is a small community based organisation in the Salima district, set up to assist and deliver vocational training to adults with disabilities. Through our partnership with Edinburgh based Global Concerns Trust, our Tool Shed project has sent out many refurbished tools to provide direct support to this inspiring project.
Our Project Manager, Jo Hobbett, was lucky enough to meet George whilst on holiday in Malawi three years ago. She came back full of enthusiasm for KODO’s work “It was so motivating to see tool kits that volunteers at The Ecology Centre had prepared actually being used in the workshop in Malawi. It really brought it home to me how we all can play a part in making a difference to people’s lives and giving them a chance to help themselves.”
George and Emma from Global Concerns Trust are taking time out of their busy week to come and give us an first hand update on developments in Malawi.
Exact timings are still to be confirmed (keep an eye on our website and facebook page) but probably at 11 am with s simple soup/ bread lunch served afterwards. Everyone is welcome, so please come and join us and hear more about this inspiring work if you can.
