Explore! Discover! Create! That was the message children and their families heard when they attended the launch of The Fife Challenge at The Ecology Centre last weekend. The exciting new project, which is funded by Fife Cultural Trust and Fife Council, challenges young people and their families to get out; get active with free challenges, workshops and tasters that will take them on amazing adventures around Fife.
The launch weekend gave families a taste of what to expect from this exciting new project. Claire Reid, our Education Manager commented, “families were able to learn about fascinating fossils, listen to stories round the fire, try their hand at bushcraft as well as joining in with arts activities, all great fun and free.”
Jim Leishman, the Lord Provost who attended the launch event said “The best times of my childhood were spent exploring Fife that is why this project is so fantastic as it will encourage young people to put down their electronic equipment and get out exploring”
Giving The Fife Challenge his own seal of approval, Charlie Cadogan, age 8 who attended one of the first workshops said “It was really fun, I didn’t want it to end”.
The Ecology Centre is just one of the many providers of the free activities and workshops which take place right across Fife. To find out what is on offer and to take part in The Fife Challenge, visit the new www.thefifechallenge.co.uk
