After so many weeks of being closed we are so happy to let you know that we are slowly starting to safely re-open the Centre. In the last few weeks some of our staff members have returned part time, along with some of our wonderful Tool Shed volunteers!
Many of you know that we are always looking for tool donations to support our Tool Shed, but due to COVID-19 the project with The Global Concerns Trust to supply tools and sewing machines to Malawi, has suffered from a loss of volunteer hours across many of the tool refurbishing locations in Scotland.
Now that some of our Tool Shed volunteers are back, they are keen to get started and produce the largest ever shipment of refurbished tools and dewing machines! BUT - to do this we are urgently looking for tool donations, all types of sewing machine in any condition, even electrical ones. However, we especially need manual Singer sewing machines with treadle bases.
The types of tools we are looking for include all types of carpentry tools:-
- Spoke shaves
- Jack and smoothing planes
- Plough planes
- G & F clamps
- Saw sets
If you have had a clear out during the lockdown period or have any of the tools shown in the picture that you wish to donate, please contact us on 01592 891567 or email us at Toolshed@theecologycentre.org to arrange a suitable drop off time or to arrange a collection time.
Finally, we're always on the look out for old or unwanted garden tools too; these are the prime focus of our Thursday Dementia friendly sessions. The tools are refurbished and made available to local community groups.
We will take any tools no matter what their condition. Our team are skilled at bringing rusty and broken items back into use!
