Living things (P1+)
Using all of our senses we will discover how everything on earth is interconnected; plants & trees, animals, birds and humans too!
Discover the mini-beasts living all around us. Go on a mini-beast hunt and take a more detailed look at the mini-beast metropolis that’s happening right under our feet.
Litter and waste (P4+)
An exploration of the effects of litter and waste on the environment and what responsible citizens can do to help!
^Pond dipping (P3+)
What creatures lurk in The Ecology Centre pond? Come pond dipping with us to discover freshwater creatures and explore what life is like for them.
Climate change (P4 +)
Discover how humans are impacting the earth and environment. Explore the alternatives to fossil fuels and understand the use of renewable energies.
Scotland’s native nature (P4 +)
Looking at and identifying the abundance of Scottish flora and fauna, classes will learn that you don’t have to look too far to find amazing creatures and beautiful plants.

Sessions can be a full or half day and are for a maximum of 32 children per class.
^ Please note an additional charge may apply depending on class numbers. For Pond dipping we are only able to accommodate 15 children round the pond at a time with one member of staff. If there are more children an additional member of staff is required.
- Full day visit £150.00* - full day visits generally start at 9:30am and end at 2:15pm, with half an hour of flexibility at either end. Please note, packed lunches are required.
- Half day visit £100.00* - half day visits take place in the morning or afternoon and last approximately 2-3 hours. Please note, morning classes must finish before 1pm.
*Maximum of 32 children per group. If more than 32, the cost is doubled to allow for 2 members of staff.
A risk assessment is available for environmental education sessions taking place at The Ecology Centre. It can be downloaded and adapted here for your visit.
