Outreach - exciting & innovative learning experiences

The Ecology Centre’s award winning Education team are out at Fife schools every day working with teachers and children to make environmental education inspirational and engaging. All our sessions are tailored to support the Curriculum for Excellence too. We offer bespoke packages for schools who want to partner with us for a number of sessions. Alternatively if it’s a one-off session you are looking for, here’s what we offer:-

  • Project climate and renewable energy – P5 to P7
  • Biodiversity – all ages
  • Litter and Waste – P3 to P7
  • Citizenship and resources – P5 to P7

We can tailor the session to fit around your school day, with the morning class beginning at approximately 10am and the afternoon session finishing at 2:30pm. Half day visits are also available.  We offer two packages:-

Package one – two Educators £260 + travel

  • Afternoon sessions includes the option of a further two classes
  • Two educators working with a maximum of 9 classes 
  • Morning session – up to a maximum of 6 classes of 32 children, each educator takes take one class at a time

Package two – one Educator £180 + travel

  • Afternoon session – one class
  • Working with a maximum of 4 classes
  • Morning session – up to a maximum of 3 classes of 32 children

Travel costs:

Zone 1 - Aberdour, Burntisland, Kinghorn and Kirkcaldy - No charge
Zone 2 - Cowdenbeath, Cardenden and Dysart - £5
Zone 3 - Dunfermline. Glenrothes and Leven - £10

Other off-site educational activities

Looking for something specific to tie in with your group’s needs and interests?  We can tailor our sessions to create a unique educational experience.

Previous off-site educational activities have included:-

  • Rock pool guddling on a local beach (tide dependent)
  • An environmental art adventure and procession through the woods
  • A night walk for primary 2 children learning about night and day
  • Tree planting and the creation of a nature trail in school grounds
  • A day of outdoor fun and fitness through environmental learning in the local park
  • A fossil hunt discovering Fife's prehistoric past!
