Dementia Friendly Tool shed

Dementia Friendly Tool shed

Are you (or anyone you know) coming to terms with memory loss or the early stages of dementia?

Are you interested in working with hand tools? Then our small, friendly and free Tool Shed session on Thursday mornings might be just the thing for you.
Thursday sessions are very relaxed and supported by two members of staff. Participating volunteers start at 10am and finish at 12noon and we have a light lunch together before leaving or being picked up at 12.30pm.

One of the Tool Shedders recently commented “Cleaning up these tools gives me a sense of purpose, I wish it was on every morning” while his wife told staff “You wouldn’t believe how much he looks forward to Thursdays now, it is the only morning he wants to leave the house early and he is in a better mood for the rest of the day too. I must admit, I also love having a couple of hours to myself knowing he is in good hands”.

** We’ve recently been awarded funding to start up a new dementia friendly Tool Shed session. The session will take place on Thursday afternoons from 1.30pm - 4pm and we have three new places available. **
