About the event
World Seagrass Day is an annual global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of seagrass ecosystems and promoting their conservation. Celebrated on March 1st, this day serves as a platform for communities, scientists, and environmental enthusiasts to come together and highlight the crucial role seagrasses play in maintaining the health of coastal ecosystems.
Plan:
Participants will meet with Lyle, the Ecology Centre's Seagrass Officer on the Burntisland promenade just off of the Beacon Leisure Centre's beach side car park, in Burntisland. We will be meeting on March 1st at 09:20am. The event will kick off with an introduction to seagrass ecosystems, where attendees can learn about the importance of seagrass ecosystems and their role in the coastal marine environment. Afterwards a short seagrass identification workshop will take place to enable attendees to accurately identify the two species of seagrass we have in the UK. Finally, we will commence…
