Nest Cafe's 1st anniversary and how it's going from strength to strength

Writer's picture: The Ecology CentreThe Ecology Centre

It's been just over a year since the Nest café opened its doors under the shadow of the ecology centre. The café, part of a larger social enterprise called the ecology centre, was created to make a difference in the lives of young people living in poverty or facing other challenges in their lives.

In that short time, the Nest café has become much more than just a place to grab a coffee or a bite to eat. It's become a community gathering space where people can come together to connect, learn and grow.

How The Nest café is making a difference in the community

The Nest Café is a social enterprise that provides training and employment opportunities for individuals who face barriers to work. Located in the heart of the ecology centre, they are open Thursday to Monday with takeaway drinks, ice cream etc., available seven days per week. They come with a new mission to provide a supportive environment where individuals can learn new skills and gain the experience they need to improve their outlook on life and future job prospects.

The fantastic story of the Nest café: how one man's vision is changing lives

It is with great pride that the Nest café passed its first birthday. The small but cosy café had been a labour of love for the centre and training Kitchen Supervisor, Sam. From the outset, he had made it his mission to use the Nest as a training kitchen, supporting those with barriers to employment.

The café has gone from strength to strength, and Sam is thrilled to be promoted to Training Kitchen Supervisor. Sam is one of our young people participating in the UK Government Kick Start programme.  He will use his knowledge and experience to help individuals improve their skills and gain the right expertise to improve their outlook on life and opportunities for the future.

How the Nest Café is changing lives by helping those with barriers to employment

Nest Cafe is more than just a cafe. It's a training kitchen that supports local people in employment. The Nest café isn't just somewhere you can come for a meal. It's a training kitchen that helps those with barriers to employment, giving them the skills and experience they need to improve their outlook on life.

The café offers a variety of programs and events that aim to help young people reach their potential. The Nest café has also become a place of employment for many young people and adults. They offer internships, work placements, and the opportunity to apply for a full-time job after completing training or support them into future employment or higher education.

Their highly experienced team provides practical skills training and support to help people build the confidence and knowledge they need to find work in the hospitality industry.

If you're looking for a new challenge or a fresh start in the hospitality industry, Nest Cafe can help you make it happen. It is the best time to begin under the supervision of Sam, an ambitious and education-oriented skilled person. Moreover, it's a significant step for the ecology centre to help the community through projects like Nest Café.
